Practicing medicine in Rexburg and the surrounding areas is somewhat of a unique experience. The atmosphere is different from anywhere else in the country. We think that’s a good thing. The small town environment is the reason so many of us have chosen to live here. It’s extremely fulfilling to live in a town that is relationship based. There aren’t very many places left where people know and care about their neighbors, teachers, various service contractors, and everyone else we live and work with. Practicing medicine, in particular, should be rooted in strong relationships and branch into a desire to serve those in our community. 

Unfortunately, medicine is also subject to increased regulation, the stresses of business, and the tedium of impersonal paperwork. There has to be a place where these things intersect with the genuine desire to improve our chosen hometown. This is the reason for the Upper Valley Medical Auxiliary. We are a service and social organization. We want to draw members of the medical community together as more than just professionals. We want to work together as families and as friends. We believe that relationships are what make our community so amazing and we work to foster those relationships through service to our town. 

We truly would like everyone in our medical family to become involved to the extent your schedule allows. The stresses of life are ever present and it seems like there are more and more demands on everyone’s time. That is why we try hard to make our meetings easily accessible to everyone. We get together once a quarter, have lunch, and address the business of our service projects. The meetings are casual, friendly, and always open to children. Nothing is mandatory and each member is free to commit to only that which they can fit into their busy lives.
